Whether it is for job acquisition or simply looking to expand our business, Chinese companies have come through a long way into Pakistan on account of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). CPEC, as Imran Khan states, connects Pakistan with China and to a world of opportunities at many levels. This calls for us getting acquainted with the Chinese language as our next career move. Well, the IPS Unit of Education has good news for such individuals as it offers a Chinese language course in Lahore at a nominal fee over 3 months.

Before we get into the details of these companies, we must know that they are here for a reason; One is self-growth, and the second is to give opportunities to Pakistanis. The growth of the economy and business sector of Pakistan depends on the success of CPEC. Nevertheless, students who have fluency in Chinese will be ahead of those with only English and Urdu in their skill sets.

Such companies don’t necessarily limit to CPEC but spread across Pakistan and consider it as their turf to participate in multiple projects. Most construction companies are operational since roads have to be built from scratch. Let’s check some of them out.

1. China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC)

China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) is an engineering contractor and a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). It is working to build Gwadar International Airport because that’s what it does at home too; it produces roads, railways, marine products, and plants. The sky is the limit with such mega-companies in action, so why don’t we prepare ourselves for them by learning the Chinese language.

CHEC is an internationally renowned construction giant with a global footprint in 80 countries worldwide. The human resource strength stands at a healthy 15,000 and counting. It is the next thriving company for engineers to be a part of.

2. China Communication Construction Company (CCCC)

Orange-Line Metro in Lahore allows China Communication Construction Company to enter Pakistan. That’s right; the parent company helps in the economic growth and development of Pakistan. It is ranked 165 in the Global Fortune 500 Company list. That’s quite an honor for them to be recognized as a global leader in engineering and construction.

3. China Gezhouba Group Company Limited

Another company that deals in engineering machinery is here in the form of China Gezhouba Group Company. According to Wikipedia, the company was here to develop coal power plants under the Gadani Power Project. However, the project has not seen the light of execution yet. Though it is a hint of hope for the future in which we can expect to have healthy bidding until the right company shows up.

4. China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. (COPHC)

COPHC Pakistan is a Hong Kong-based and commands the recently developed Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone. It has the objective to develop the most-strategically placed port into a trade spot for the rest of the region. A naturally deep-sea port is a hot-selling commodity in the business world; common sense says that ships can anchor right next to it. That means the incoming ships undergo ease of docking and the outgoing ships get a head start. Further, the company aims to repair Attabad Lake and underlying areas along with its role in Gwadar International Airport.

5. China Railway Engineering Corporation (CRECG)

Hailing from Beijing, China is China Railway Engineering Corporation (CRECG), a state-owned company busy in CPEC. Its main purpose is to build convenient bridges and railway communication between China and Pakistan. Roads such as Karakoram Highway Phase II (Raikot to Islamabad), reconstruction/maintenance of Karakorum Highway and Khunjerab-Havelian Rail Link are in their to-do list.

As a whole, Pakistan is fully engaged with China as far as the development of the Gwadar Sea Port is concerned. It is going to be the biggest achievement of Pakistan in ages once it becomes operational because it will invite people to invest millions of dollars in the name of economic zones.

And for the common man, jobs, and opportunities in the Chinese business market will only increase. So, without wasting any more time, we should enroll in a professional short course that conducts Chinese language training.
